The St. Anthony’s medical clinic started operating on 14th Feb 1996. It is a special
clinic as it caters primarily to the poor. It is manned by volunteer doctors, nurses
and administrators. The clinic was started by Dr John Seah, a Singaporean anaesthetist,
after he received a calling from the Lord to do so. Dr John Seah’s verbatim comments
during an interview in 1996 with the Catholic News were as follows, *"After much
prayer, the Lord revealed to me that I was to help establish a free medical clinic
for the church which would be rebuilt at Woodlands." The Living Hope Medical
Mission Foundation adopted the project to build the clinic in the church. This is
a charitable organisation founded in Hawaii in 1992 by Dr John Seah, to help the
poor and disadvantaged via medical and other humanitarian assistance. Today, the
clinic comes under the administration of the Society of St Vincent de Paul, St Anthony’s
church and is funded by donations.
